debian/patches/use-only-one-the.patch isn't necessary for version 6.4.3.2.dfsg1-1
The parallel building is broken on the buildds (but it works on my machine). I need to investigate (see http://bugs.debian.org/496212). About syncing it, probably you will have the same "problem" as us on Debian. Some packages will FTBFS with the new ImageMagick (I have sent patches on Debian BTS) and others will need to change the build-dependencies.
