I believe I'm seeing the same issue with a Transcend JetFlash V10 (16GB) USB thumbdrive that I bought yesterday: It works fine with Windows and Kubuntu 8.04 (2.6.24-16-generic), yet cannot be accessed under 8.10-alpha4 (2.6.26-5-generic). However, I've tried four other usb drives with my Intrepid installation, and they all work fine.
I first tried re-formatting the new drive under Windows: no change. I then used my Hardy machine to repartition the drive (first as Ext2, then as FAT32). Each time, Hardy could recognize the partitions fine, but Intrepid fails (Unable to read). relevant lsusb line: Bus 002 Device 006: ID 058f:6387 Alcor Micro Corp.
