As of today (21 Aug 2008), the bug still exists in Hardy. The ubuntu texinfo package is incomplete (e.g., it doesn't include makeinfo; not sure what else is missing). This incompleteness caused a build of gcc from sources to fail. So, I fetched texinfo from ftp.gnu.org, built it, and installed it. Now, gcc builds just fine. *BUT* installs of new packages get errors like the one reported above.
I see three problems here: . scripts should set their PATH; scripts that don't are broken. . commands should not share the same name as common commands that have been around for ages; sharing names is a recipe for disaster. . the pieces of the texinfo distribution that are missing from the texinfo package should be added to the package. -- post-installation doesn't use absolute path https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/178877 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
