Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The problem sounds a lot like the issue in bug

A fix was released (13 Aug.) with the package gnome-settings-daemon -
2.23.6-0ubuntu2.
The problem should be corrected if you try a newer LiveCD. If not feel
free to open a new bug report.
