Apparantly, this bug can only reproduced when 'unix extensions = no' is set on the server side. Ironicaly, I changed that setting (it was set to the default, so 'yes') because of this bug (also discovered by me): "Mount with smbfs treats symlinks invalid" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/134716
