Public bug reported: My up-to-date 8.04.1 with 2.6.24-19-generic Kernel showed some serious instability - somehow related to dbus.
In the last 2 days 3 times errors related to dbus occurred. 1. System Frozen for hours. (First i thought this was a oom, but this time it showed that dbus-daemon failed for some reason.) 2. Once my gnome-panel suddenly disappeared, returned without some tray applications, and moments later firefox crashed. (firefox:26834): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid (NULL) pointer instance (firefox:26834): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_connect_data: assertion `G_TYPE _CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed Segmentation fault Right before that this must have happened: dbus-daemon[15362]: segfault at b8080738 eip b7e1fd2a esp bfaeb48c error dbus-daemon was not running anymore, and did not recover (restart) by itself. AFTER that dbus crash, other applications crashed also. 3. System Frozen except for the Mouse Pointer. The only way out was pressing the power button (pressing it for quite some time...) /var/log/messages shows this at the time of freeze: dhcdbd: Shut down. kernel: [102447.054258] dbus-daemon[15362]: segfault at b8080738 eip b7e1fd2a esp bfaeb48c error 4 dhcdbd: Started up. After that some other applications crashed also. As indicated by the message log. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- dbus-daemon segfaults - input frozen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/258856 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
