I agree with the submitter of this bug, and can confirm this with Kubuntu Dapper. It is a very practical default behaviour to enable "paste-to-load".
The "whatever random stuff" that happens to be in your X selection can just as well be a deliberate seekword, since the default behaviour with a seekword as "pseudo-URL" causes firefox do a Google "I feel lucky" -search on that seekword. I have had it a couple times load a page unintended, but it wasn't a problem for me to press "back" at that point. The lack of this feature is a more serious drawback IMO, and had caused me to start moving towards using other browsers already in the short time I've used Dapper. I'd also like to thank the submitter of this bug, since the title gave me a sufficient hint to enabling this for myself. ;-) ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Confirmed -- enable middlemouse.contentLoadURL https://launchpad.net/bugs/47701 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
