Public bug reported: When I plug in my Nokia 6500 Classic phone to be used as an USB storage device it automounts fine. But when I enter one of the subfolders of the device to paste a file the "Paste" option is disabled. I found out that entering a subfolder, right-clicking and choosing Properties and changing "Folder access" under the "Permissions"-tab to "Create and delete files" allows me to write files to this particular subfolder. This has to be repeated for every subfolder on the device that I wish to write to.
It seems like it would be the most logical if the USB drive was mounted with "Create and delete files" enabled by default. Not all people would think to look under permissions, especially not if you're not used to Linux. It took me a while to figure out at least. I'm not sure what information to include but here's some output of "ls -l": [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/media/VOLUMELABEL$ ls -l total 160 dr-x------ 2 rune root 16384 2008-08-15 20:29 Filereceived dr-x------ 6 rune root 16384 2007-01-01 11:00 Graphics dr-x------ 2 rune root 16384 2008-08-01 10:32 Music dr-x------ 2 rune root 16384 2007-01-01 11:00 Photos dr-x------ 2 rune root 16384 2006-12-31 23:00 Playlist dr-x------ 2 rune root 16384 2007-01-01 11:00 Recordings dr-x------ 2 rune root 16384 2007-01-01 11:00 Themes dr-x------ 4 rune root 16384 2007-01-01 11:00 Tones -r-x------ 1 rune root 70 2007-01-01 11:00 User Content Package ctv_dk_bronze dr-x------ 2 rune root 16384 2007-01-01 11:00 Videos [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/media/VOLUMELABEL$ ls -l Graphics total 80 -rwx------ 1 rune root 69 2007-01-01 11:00 1_Graphics_download_ea.bmk dr-x------ 2 rune root 16384 2007-01-01 11:00 Cliparts dr-x------ 2 rune root 16384 2007-01-01 11:00 Frames dr-x------ 2 rune root 16384 2007-01-01 11:00 Screensavers dr-x------ 2 rune root 16384 2008-07-25 21:32 Wallpapers And my Ubuntu release is: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/media/VOLUMELABEL$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1 Release: 8.04 ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Default permission for subfolders on a mounted Nokia 6500 Classic USB disk is "Access files" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/258510 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
