Public bug reported:

Printing (as well PDF from KPDF as all other programs like OpenOffice)
was working.

---edit---
Ubuntu 8.04  (64 bit) on amd64
good old USB printer C-64 epson stylus
ii  cups-pdf                          2.4.6-4ubuntu2
---------

It suddenly stoped working, probably after my recent upgrade.

Printing PDFs (ie from KPDF) do not work - the icon of printer (KDE)
appears and dissapears in a moment, nothing gets printed.

Other documents (say from OpenOffice directly) still work.

After issuing a print of a PDF, i got in dmesg:

[39291.980193] audit(1218633214.255:3): type=1503 operation="capable"
name="dac_override" pid=19016 profile="/usr/lib/cups/backend/cups-pdf"
namespace="default"
[39291.980204] audit(1218633214.255:4): type=1503 operation="capable"
name="dac_read_search" pid=19016 profile="/usr/lib/cups/backend/cups-pdf"
namespace="default"

and similar.

I never changed anything in default AppArmor configuration, or did any
steps related to it, all is default (same for CUPS).

I disabled AppArmor,
  sudo /etc/init.d/apparmor stop
but the problem remained (only now without this info in dmesg).

Logs:

I don't know, is it related perhaps to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cupsys/+bug/147551 but as I
said, it seems disabling AppArmor did not help.
