I think I have found the cause of the problem. I have create a new user on my real gutsy machine. The new user have not the problem.
I have search for the file that store the status of the windows that make the problem. I have found the file "~/.config/gtk-2.0/gtkfilechooser.ini". When I copy my file to the new user the new user have the same problem. The content of the file ~/.config/gtk-2.0/gtkfilechooser.ini ========================================== [Filechooser Settings] LocationMode=filename-entry ShowHidden=false ExpandFolders=true ========================================== I can now reproduce the same problem in my VirtualBox gutsy VM but I can **not** reproduce it in my hardy VM.
