Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

almost always when i start video (using xv output in mplayer, vlc or
totem) screen first changes to black and then video starts normally.
also when video ends screen will first change to black and only then
show real desktop

in rare but quite regular cases it crashes X server completely and i get
to terminal.

full X log is attached, but last lines are:

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting

graphics card is Ati Radeon HD2650XT, drivers are fglrx 8.5, mplayer is
compiled from some not so old svn snapshot (it happened before too and it also
happened with vlc player in repository), rest of packages is from Ubuntu 8.04
repositories with all updates installed

i am not able to make reproduce crash when i want. it simply happens and after
restart everything works
please let me know what additional information you need and how to obtain it

Ubuntu version is 8.04.1 with all latest updates installed, which means
xorg is in version 1:7.3+10ubuntu10

now i am aware of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs so i will provide
additional info when it will crash again

** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
