Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager
The security key should be obfuscated by default, with a selectable option for viewing in plain text. No such option exists for WEP or WPA, so the security key is always visible. Passwords are always obfuscated in a very Windows-like fashion, for IEEE 802.1X, with no option to make the key visible. To reproduce: 1) New connection > select your wireless interface. 2) Click the correct ESSID in the list or enter it into the 'Essid' box. 3) Click Next. 4) Check the 'Use Wireless Security' box. 5) Select the appropriate security type from the 'Security' drop-down. 6) If the type from step 5 is 'WPA' or 'WEP' then enter the key in the appropriate box. 7) The key you enter is never obfuscated. 8) If the type from step 5 is 'IEEE 802.1X' then the 'Password' and 'Private secret key' boxes are both obfuscated and cannot be made visible. ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete -- network-manager 0.7 allows security key to be seen in plain text https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/257044 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
