Thanks for your report. I think it would be a good idea if you can
attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /etc/X11/xorg.conf to this report as
file attachments.
Note: I added xorg-ati but did not remove kernel (while assigning bugs)
upon your last comments. The reason is, afaik, if a driver (or anything,
for that matter) can hang the machine, it's a kernel bug. But at the
same time, it's an ati bug bc it cannot provide support your specific
card. I hope this info will be helpful to other triagers / developers
looking a this bug.
