Looks like the issue has been resolved for me. I just performed a system update and then booted into the 2.6.24-20-generic kernel. Wireless worked. I did notice that with 2.6.24-19-generic the activity light on my wifi card was always on, but with this kernel the wifi light only goes on when there's activity. Otherwise, things seem to be working so far.
