Unfortunately I'm not using the machine in question any more. However the real problem is that fancontrol did not get configured on installing a distribution (Feisty) or on a distribution upgrade (Gutsy). If this hasn't been specifically fixed since then, then it is still a as much a problem as it ever was.
What needs to happen is for the user to be presented with the option to calibrate sensors during installation.
