I just finished testing 8.10 alpha 3 on my IBM T20 - disk image called: intrepid-alternate-i386.iso
I ran the "alternate" CD, selected nothing special besides UTC time and Danish keyboard settings. First boot: Black screen, dead keys. Second boot: ESC -> recovery -> "Fix X server" -> resume -> Perfect graphics. I had not downloaded any sw updates at that time.
