I'm not sure, but The bug appears to have been fixed with 8.04 release. I am able to get my proper resolution when installing ubuntu. It also detects my monitor although it does not show this in the xorg.conf I still have a quite bland xorg.conf, not showing my monitor, resolution or video card. But it works so I don't mess with it much.
