@James, not being able to directly upload something to main, I also don't feel entitled to "upload" this something to Debian too without supervision. As you can see for my other universe uploads, together with the responsibility of uploading them to the archive I also take that of forwarding them to Debian. Having seen wrong patches sent by eager contributors to Debian before they were rejected by Ubuntu sponsors (with the unfortunate consequences this has) I believe this is the right approach.
