Temporary workaround! As other have said -- this appears to be an interaction problem after recent updates.
Anything XV_HUE set with xvattr is immediately reset by Totem. But then I used gxvattr, and the settings *almost* stick. What I mean by this is that if I set the hue to 0, it comes back up to 4 or 7.
