So I run:
- Ubuntu Hardy Heron
- Realtime kernel is installed (through the ubuntustudio audio package)
- in Jack: the latency is 46 ms (frames per period 1024 -> so this is not the 
culprit)
- in Jack: the realtime box is ticked
- in Jack: priority is set to 89
- I changed the following permissions in /etc/security/limits.conf
          @audio - rtprio 99
          @audio - nice -10
          @audio - memlock unlimited
- when I change the Periods/Buffer to 4, the amount of xruns is less, but still 
high
 (on this computer wirelss is also very problematic -> and the Thinkpad t60 has 
proven that the wireless was connected to the behaviour of Jack)
