I just got hit by this. Between trackerd and rsvg-convert my dual core processor with 2GB of ram was rendered useless for over 10 minutes. It took me that long just to figure out wtf was going on. I had to reboot since rsvg-convert was un-interruptible.
I have / on one partition and /home on another if that matters. The /home partition contains 188GB of data. The importance for this issue should certainly be decided soon.
