Thanks Nick, I was having trouble accessing the Ubuntu Packages search yesterday at http://packages.ubuntu.com/
So I used a search at launchpad which showed nothing https://launchpad.net/projects/+index?text=convirt And I checked in Synaptic (on Feisty) which also showed nothing. The package search engine seems to be working again today, and I see that Convirt is only available for Intrepid version. Is there a reason why a recently suggested package (not just in this case), only get added to the latest version of Ubuntu, rather than "all" of the currently supported versions?
