Got the same Problem here, thanks for telling me the right process to kill. Also upgrading from 7.10 to 8.04.1. I have no 64 bit system. Packet manager seems to have unresolved dependencies -- i have kde, xfce and gnome installed. I have german and english locales, both wrecked during upgrade. uname: linux 2.6.22-15-generic i686
