Dymo themselves at

say LabelWriter 310 will only work when connected to a Windows computer,
because it has non-standard USB support.

Labelwriter 400, 400 Turbo, DUO, Twin Turbo, 300, 330, 330 Turbo,
LabelMANAGER 450 and LabelPOINT 350 will work fine.

LabelWriter 310, 315, 320, LabelMANAGER 400 and LabelMANAGER PC all have
non-standard USB.

If the original poster really wants to us the 310, you can print from
Linux via CUPS and SMB if the printer is plugged into a Windows
computer. I suggest the original poster just buys a better Labelwriter.
