Hi,

after proceeding as you suggested, I find the same happening again --
localedef running at ~ 99% of CPU time with 52 MB of resident memory for
approx. 100 minutes now. While no other user programs are running
besides X, I see very brief hard disk activity in regular intervals of
about 2 seconds, i.e., different from typical logging and syncing
activity if I am not mistaken.

I will shut down the computer by pressing the power button and remove
the package after reboot.

I will be out of town from Sunday until mid-august and do not have
access to my computer during this period, so I will unfortunately not be
able to assist in the search for the culprit before I return.

Best regards,
Dieter Issler
