I had to set synaptic source to us main server. that was after using options to get the gui to come in the safe mode. restarted computer picked 14 instead 0f 15 used regular log in it hung at gui restarted computer picked options instead of logging normally chose terminal option then ran sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo --configure -a
