@ Alberto Milone: I have added the suggested line to my xorg.conf and it did indeed resolve the issue of module dri2 not being loaded. Thanks for suggestion!
Now the "only" error remaining is: Messages from the X server: (EE) No devices detected. Fatal server error: I have had this issue before and have not (yet) found a way to resolve it. Where it comes down to is that no screens are detected on PCI:1:0:1 which is correct since my monitor is connected to PCI:1:0:0 Regardless what I put in my xorg.conf (amongst others BusID "PCI:1:0:0") I keep getting the same error.
