Ok, it looks like a few things are broken. type: sudo rm /usr/lib/nvidia/libGL.so.1.2.xlibmesa
then try to install the package again: sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-177 And if you get another error with "dpkg-divert" similar to the following but concerning another file, just remove the 1st file dpkg-divert complains about (`/usr/lib/nvidia/libGL.so.1.2.xlibmesa' in this case) with "sudo rm". Then try to install the driver again. NOTE: you might have to repeat this a few times. dpkg-divert: rename involves overwriting `/usr/lib/nvidia/libGL.so.1.2.xlibmesa' with different file `/usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2', not allowed After a few attempts you should be able to install nvidia-glx-177 without complaints by apt. -- package nvidia-glx-177 None [modified: /var/lib/dpkg/info/nvidia-glx-177.list] failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so', which is also in package xserver-xorg-core https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/250486 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
