Public bug reported: The pc speaker works, evidenced by beeps whenever bios detects an error during startup, or when booting directly into FreeDOS. But it does not work when Ubuntu is loaded.
Research shows that this is related to the snd-hda-intel module, and related to the Alsa project. There is a bug reported at the alsa project for hardware similar to mine: https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=3716 I've attached the appropriate alsa information, using the utils_alsa- info.sh from the Alsa Project. There are no known workarounds in Ubuntu at this time. This link describes potential workarounds that depend on packages that are not in Ubuntu repositories at this time: http://gentoo-wiki.com/index.php?title=HOWTO_Virtual_PC_Speaker Thanks, Harvey ** Affects: linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- snd-hda-intel module breaks pc speaker https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/249558 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
