Thanks for reporting. If you install the NVIDIA driver from the NVIDIA installer you will have to uninstall the driver through the installer before you install an nvidia package from the repository. You will have to: 1) shut down the Xserver (or do all this from Recovery Mode) 2) uninstall the driver with, for example, "sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-177.13-pkg0.run --uninstall"
