Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: lyx

Using latest Hardy and LyX 1.5.3.

When I ask to view or export a pdf version of my document using ps2pdf,
it is possible for me to get, without warning, a version that is days or
weeks or more old!!

Here's what happens:
When both
(1) dvips fails for some reason (in my case, the error seems to be "dvips: !
DVI file can't be opened." but the document compiles fine through pdflatex)
(2) there is already an older .ps version of the output around

then ps2pdf charges ahead and produces an out of date PDF. LyX gives no
warning or error.

Instead, LyX should not proceed with ps2pdf when dvips has failed!

** Affects: lyx (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
