Replicable steps for me getting this same error: 1. Install Wubi with Hardy Heron 2. Update Hardy until ~June 25th, 2008. 3. sudo update-manager -d -- close all programs and let install happen 4. Boot manager into Ubuntu (other OS, Win XP SP2) 5. Gets you into initramfs and not into Ubuntu
