I don't mean to be too off-topic, but as mentioned previously you need
/etc/printcap for Mathematica to find your printers.  You can generate
this in hardy by adding

Printcap /etc/printcap

to your /etc/cups/cupsd.conf file, and then restarting cupsys via

sudo /etc/init.d/cupsys restart

This might be useful for those that wish to restore printing without
removing the Mathematica-provided qt libraries.
