It's an upstream issue. Debian has it too. No idea if it's jfs or the areca driver that's the source of the issue, though. And no, I don't have a link to a Debian bug, just someone IMing me to vent about how Lenny ate his data on an Areca with JFS. I can't find anything about it in either Debian's bugzilla or the Kernel bugzilla.
