I've pushed the proposed debdiff but targetted at hardy-proposed, not
hardy. NB: I didn't change the version as it was free.

** Changed in: xkeyboard-config (Ubuntu)
Status: In Progress => Fix Committed

** Description changed:

Reporter requires a keyboard layout with extra characters similar to the
Mac OS X keyboard layout which uses the option key heavily to allow for
better typography. The Mac layout contains a proper ellipsis character
(option+semicolon), single and double, left and right (duh!) curly
  quotes, mapped to option+[, option+shift+[, option+], and
option+shift+]. It also contains summation, copyright, several
diphthongs, infinity, international currency, paragraph, and degree
  symbols, for example.

+
+ TEST CASE: Set your keyboard layout to the Mac one and try the above
+ combinations.
