Thank you for your response. I have discontinued the use of this computer. I got the sense that the drivers and such were more and more focused on newer computers. So, I have since got a new computer. Ubuntu works great on this new intel. Many, many thanks. I assumed that you all simply didn't want to support this problem and so I just bought a new computer.
