Public bug reported:

I've got a Dell Inspiron 1520 with an LCD monitor with 1440x900. In
Windows XP/Vista, when I press the Fn+Down/Up key, I can change the
brightness of the LCD display in 6 steps from loweset to highest. In
64-bit Ubuntu 8.04 which I'm using, I can only change the brightness in
3 steps. Lowest, mid, high. The graphics card is a GeForce 8600M GT, and
I'm using nvidia's propriety drivers 173.14.05.

So basically I want 6 levels of brightness that I can choose from within
Ubuntu/Gnome, as I can do in Windows XP.

** Affects: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
