What wireless drivers/device are you using? Could your problem be related to this one: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network- manager/+bug/217653 ? I had some trouble with the Hardy beta with the intel drivers on my university network. I havent tested it anymore, still running gutsy.
