We think its a combination of issues. The new kernel included new drivers for both the broadcomm wireless cards and the Intel cards. Those newer drivers seemed to break quite a few things. When you use te newer drivers with the older kernel, some things , such as in my case the wireless connection light on my notebooks still do not work, but WEB then does.If you use the older drivers with the newer kernel, wep doesn't work natively but the wireless indicator does work.I looked in the BUG fix list, both of these problems are in the query for being fixed.I think that most of the problems are solvable in the new drivers, although it is possible that the fix will require a newer networkmanager module. Its all coming together, but very very slowly. I update my machine once a week and as of the most recent update suspend now works, so they are progressing forward.Later,Mackintire --- On Mon, 6/30/08, Chris Pratt <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: From: Chris Pratt <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [Bug 223111] Re: 8.04: Centrino Wifi WEP not working, WPA2 ok To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Monday, June 30, 2008, 5:31 PM
Is this a Centrino issue or a Network-Manager issue? I have the same issue with Broadcom drivers-- https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /network-manager/+bug/230047 -- 8.04: Centrino Wifi WEP not working, WPA2 ok https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/223111 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. Status in Source Package "linux" in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: After upgrading to 8.04, my Centrino Wifi suddenly can't connect to my WEP AccessPoint anymore. I can connect to the neighbour's WPA2 AccessPoint. And if I plug in an Orinoco Gold PCMCIA card, I can make the connection to my WEP AP. Under 7.10 everything worked OK. It's a pure 8.04 thing (not an upgrade thing): I'm typing this on a Live Boot 8.04, with the same results: no WEP connection from my Centrino. My AP with WEP is a Sweex. The WPA2 AP is Speedtouch 780.
