** Summary changed:

- Can't unmount/eject external USB hard drive
+ umount doesn't understand relative mount point names

** Description changed:

  I am using Xubuntu 8.04.

  $ ls /media
  cdrom  cdrom0  disk
+ $ cd /
  $ umount media/disk/
  /sbin/umount.hal: media/disk is not recognized by hal

- I am also unable to eject the volume in Thunar: Unknown error occured.
+ I would expect it to unmount. Anyway, this works:
+ $ umount /media/disk/

- I changed "Removable Drives and Media" settings so that I unchecked all
- in "Removable Storage" section. umount works the same way i.e. is unable
- to unmount the disk. Thunar can unmount the disk when I choose "Eject
- Volume", but gives the error dialog I mentioned above. By the way, how
- do you mount a removable drive in command line?
+ As for my problems in ejecting an USB disk, see Bug #224628.
+
+ Sorry for misleading summary for those who have commented. Maybe you can
+ make a new bug report about your issue.
