OK, I modified my sources.list (attached), turned off beryl-manager in the Sessions area, rebooted and logged in to a standard GNOME session. Still the same error. I am running the nVidia driver and have the "RenderAccel True" line in it, but other than that I think it's pretty clean. I still have a gdm selection to activate Xgl but am not running it right now.
