Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

I'm running Hardy with the hardy-proposed repository enabled.

I have /var mounted on a separate partition. I tried to run update-
manager to install pick and choose specific updates to install,
unknowing that /var was full and didn't have enough room to cache the
packages. Several attempts ended with the "Downloading Package" dialog
staying fixed at 0% and no further information. The program never made
it clear what was causing the problem.

Currently, evolution is held back in hardy-proposed, so update-manager
pops up with a dialog on launch to do a "Partial Upgrade". Only after
selecting "Partial Upgrade" did a dialog inform me that /var was full,
whereas the other "standard" method did not.

** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
