Thanks for your report. In fact noflushd conflicts with laptop-mode-tools which does the same thing ( hard drive spin down ) and is installed by default. In Hardy, the dependencies have been relaxed a bit and you can install noflushd without uninstalling the whole gnome desktop (but only power management features :( )
