Note that with practically all drivers the paper size is supplied to
Ghostscript, as all PPDs have a "PageSize" option. They do not all use
the "-sPAPERSIZE" option for Ghostscript, most embed PostScript commands
into the job data to set the paper size, some others use
"-sDEVICEHEIGHTPOINTS" and "-sDEVICEWIDTHPOINTS".

To find out what your problem is more information is needed. Which
printer do you have? Which driver are you using? Which files did you
send to the printer?

Can you attach the PPD file for your printer (from /etc/cups/ppd) and
also files which you tried to print and which came out broken?
