I installed the 2.6.24-19 kernel via apt-get. The new r8169.ko doesn't oops out anymore. Nevertheless the network adapter is still not usable, since the network packages seem to get "lost" somewhere on the way from the interface to the hardware and/or back.
One odd thing I've noticed when I patched the driver again was the size of the modules on my amd64 system: the one supplied by ubuntu is about 40kB in size while mine is over 400kB, as well as the one from 2.6.25.5. -- Installation/Kernel crash with RTL8101E Ethernet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/229113 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
