Public bug reported: I recently installed Ubuntu 8.04 and I get no sound. I've previously had Fedora Core 4 and 5 with sound working. I tried the usual suspects like chmod 666 /dev/dsp, and unmuting all channels in alsamixer to no avail. Attached is my log from the requested info on troublshooting sound. All my audio testing was playing a CD in Rhythmbox, and also the sound preferences gui in System>Preferences>Sound. I even tried playing the cd as root.
Thanks in advance, and let me know if more information could be helpful!
