The gateway I'm connecting to, is a IPcop box with Openvpn (zerina) addon. There's also a SSH daemon running.
When I shut down the sshd, I can connect with Network-manager. I know off such bug in OpenSwan (ssh and vpn getting in each others way) with PPTP (L2TP) with IPsec, the windows way. But then it's completely impossible to connect if there's a SSH connection open, or the other way around. I switched to Openvpn because of this ssh/pptp bug, and have always been able to connect with standard Openvpn (linux and windows) configured as a client. Very weird.
