I'm having the exact same problem. Did a clean hardy installed. Did sudo 
"apt-get install ubuntu-xen-server libvirt-bin python-virtinst"
And when I do "virt-install --connect xen:///" and answer the questions it 
fails with the same error:

What is the name of your virtual machine? as
 How much RAM should be allocated (in megabytes)? 256

gigabytes)? 4
