Hi, and thanks for the bug report! This is expected behavior for a terminal/shell. If the device isn't mounted, it won't show up in the shell until you mount it. Viewing the device with Dolphin mounts it, thus making it navigable in the shell. Amarok should at least see the device in the Open file dialog at media:/ even if it's not mounted. If it doesn't, you can file a bug with Amarok.
