I've experienced the exact same problem. However, I don't and haven't
ever had the IcedTea plugin installed. If it helps, I have a few
extensions installed: Flashblock, the StumbleUpon toolbar, and user
agent switcher. The behavior happens about 1 in 6 times I run Firefox,
and will always lead to a crash within a few minutes if the blank window
is closed. The windows usually seem to pop up early in a runtime, often
within the first few pages that are loaded. It doesn't seem to crash,
though, if the blank window(s) are not closed. I've never caught
firefox's stderr output when the behavior occurs, though. This has
occurred in both the beta 5 that first shipped in Hardy, and in the new
presumably-rc1 version that was pushed in an update.
